Someone is ready to listen
Say it to a
stranger.
Vent matches you with a stranger who wants to talk about the exact thing on your mind. Chat or call — anonymous, encrypted, and gone when it's over. No feed. No followers. No history.
The mission
The feed promised connection. It delivered isolation.
Something has been lost. The easy camaraderie of talking to whoever life sat you next to — replaced by algorithms engineered to keep you scrolling, polarized, and alone together. Vent exists to restore the societal fabric that exploitative social media, polarization, and isolation have torn apart.
Some of the greatest emotional and intellectual breakthroughs of your life happen in conversation with a complete stranger. There is a beautiful freedom — a lack of burden — in talking with someone who knows no one you know, and may never cross your path again. In much of the world, talking to strangers is taboo. We think the world needs to loosen up and remember how to be human with each other.
You could pay a therapist to listen. But paying someone to listen will never be as authentic, or as moving, as someone who listens simply because they want to connect with you.
After a stranger understands your vent better than your closest friends do, something shifts. You start to wonder if the person you just walked past was the one who understood you. Maybe most of the people you pass would understand you too.
When you believe you're alone, you can self-fulfill that belief. It takes one conversation to dismantle it forever.
How it works
Get it off your chest
Type it or say it out loud. Whatever is on your mind tonight — grief, a win, a worry, a wild idea — that's your topic.
Meet your stranger
We match you with someone who wants to talk about the same thing, right now. Not a profile. Not a follower. A person.
Talk, then walk on
Chat or call, for as long as it's alive. When it ends, it's deleted — like two strangers sharing a bench, then going their separate ways.
The app
No feed to scroll. Just a question.
✳ What's on your mind, Will?
I need to get this off my chest…
No photos. No uploads. No profiles to browse. Say it — typed or spoken — and meet the stranger who wants to talk about it too.
Privacy is the product
Built so that forgetting is a feature.
Every design decision starts from one question: what would you tell a stranger if you knew it could never follow you home?
House rules
A kind room stays kind because the door is guarded.
Be a human being
You're here to listen as much as to be heard. Empathy isn't optional — it's the whole point.
Stay anonymous
No last names, no addresses, no workplaces, no socials. Protect your own anonymity and theirs.
Three strikes
Rudeness, cruelty, screenshots, or rule-breaking earn strikes. Three and you're out. You'll always see a warning and how many you have left.
Zero tolerance
Anything sexual means an immediate, permanent ban. No warnings, no strikes, no exceptions.
Report anything
A report button lives in every conversation. If someone made you uncomfortable, tell us — we review it, then delete it.
Honest mistakes happen
Banned by accident? Screenshot was a slip? Email us and a person — not an algorithm — will hear you out.
One conversation can change how you see the world.
Vent is coming soon to iPhone. Until then — talk to a stranger today. The old-fashioned way.
